a beautiful smile
A beautiful smile is the dream of many patients who regularly visit dental offices. However, you should be aware that even healthy teeth may have ugly, uneven shapes or visible discoloration.
One of the most popular ways to significantly improve the appearance of teeth is teeth whitening. It is changing the teeth colour, ultimately bringing it closer to white. There are many reasons for discoloration on the enamel surface, such as a diet rich in colouring products, diseases or smoking. For each method, it is necessary to go on a “white diet”, which is a temporary elimination of foods containing dyes.
The office method, as the name suggest, is performed with the assistance of a dentist. The doctor covers the enamel surface with a solution rich in hydrogen peroxide, which has whitening properties. This solution is left on the teeth for about 15 minutes and during this time it is irradiated with a special lamp. The light activates hydrogen peroxide, and after a specified time, the gel is removed from the surface of the teeth. Office whitening can be repeated if the effect obtained during the visit is not satisfactory for the patient. The first effects are visible immediately after the procedure.
Tray whitening is intended for patients who want to whiten their teeth at home. The difference between tray and office whitening methods is the way in which the procedure is performed. The dentist first takes dental impressions and on their basis special trays are made, adjusted to the patient’s dental arches. Then, for a period of 2 to 4 weeks for several hours a day, the patient places the prepared trays with a whitening gel inside. Tray whitening is ideal for patients with hypersensitive teeth, because the solution used is much weaker, which also affects the length of the whitening process.
Impeccable appearance of the teeth is not only a matter of colour, but also factors such as the shape of individual teeth.
Veneers are very thin coverings made of porcelain – a material with a structure and colour similar to natural teeth. They are glued permanently to the gently ground enamel and they immediately improve the appearance of the teeth.
Indications for veneers are primarily:
- Tooth discoloration that cannot be removed by whitening
- Uneven tooth shape
- The presence of cracks or chipping of the teeth
- Diastema (gaps between two adjacent teeth)
In the SeaMed office we use porcelain veneers.
It is a very aesthetic solution that allows you to quickly change the appearance of you smile. Veneers made of this material are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth. It is their unique aesthetics that makes them useful especially in improving the appearance of the front teeth.
It is the presentation of potential changes in the appearance of teeth, corrected in terms of colour and shape. DSD allows to plan individual stages of treatment, illustrate and explain all the further actions that will be taken by a doctor.
Thanks to digital smile design, the patient can assess not only whether a given treatment concept is satisfactory, but also assess the potential effect obtained after completing the entire process. Each design is unique and tailored to the patient’s appearance features and his facial anatomy.
